5k Web Projects
Several years ago, there was a contest called The 5k that challenged web designers to build web sites that took up a total of 5 kilobytes (5,120 bytes) or less. The contest has since fallen by the wayside, but the idea is still a good one. The byte limit keeps downloads small, lets you see how much utility you can fit into how little space, and at the same time prevents feature creep. Several of the projects on this web site follow the 5k constraint, although only one, the Brainfuck interpreter, was completed in time to appear in the last full run of the competition.
